What is a perfume decant?

A perfume decant is a smaller amount of original perfume (2 ml, 5 ml, 10 ml) that we transfer by hand from the original bottle into a travel atomiser. ScentCheck offers decants from original bottles of well-known niche and luxury perfumes.

Why buy a decant: (1) You test an expensive perfume without investing in a full bottle. (2) You take a premium perfume on the road. (3) You build a collection of several perfumes for less money. (4) Before you buy a €200–400 full bottle, you test it for 1–2 weeks. The ScentCheck philosophy: 'Check the scent. Then decide.'

Is a decant 100% original perfume?

Yes — ScentCheck decants from original full bottles. Chemically it's identical to the original. The only difference is the smaller amount and the travel packaging.

Which decant sizes do you offer?

We offer 4 sizes: 2 ml ('first check' — for a first test), 5 ml ('real test' — for a week of wear), 10 ml ('daily wear test' — for a month) and 30 ml ('collection size' — for regular wear).

How long does a decant keep?

As long as a full bottle — perfume doesn't have a short shelf life. Stored somewhere cool and dark, it lasts for years. Keep it away from direct light and heat.

Is a decant good for travel?

Yes — a 10 ml decant is well under the 100 ml hand-luggage limit. Ideal for travel, with no risk of breaking an expensive full bottle.

Why buy a decant instead of testing in a perfume shop?

A test in a shop lasts a minute — on skin, a perfume develops over 4–6 hours. A decant gives you the real experience of wearing it through a whole day, in your actual life.

Is ScentCheck legal?

Yes — selling decants from original bottles is legal. ScentCheck states clearly that it is not an official distributor of any brand. Every perfume is 100% original.
