Lattafa Asad vs Dior Sauvage Elixir
Asad is often recommended as the affordable choice for anyone looking for something in the direction of Sauvage Elixir. There is a similarity, but it isn't as big as the recommendations claim — and the difference shows sooner than you'd think.

Asad is in our range: black pepper, tobacco and pineapple up top, patchouli, coffee and iris in the heart, vanilla, amber, benzoin and labdanum in the base. Its leading accords are amber, spices, wood and tobacco — it's warm, sweetish and Arabian in conception. Sauvage Elixir takes another route: lavender, cinnamon and nutmeg over liquorice, sandalwood and amber. What they share is mainly a warm, spicy base, not the structure. Price is the main argument: a 5 ml decant of Asad costs €10, the lowest price among comparable products in our catalogue. We don't carry Sauvage Elixir. If you're looking for a warm, spicy winter fragrance and the name doesn't matter to you, Asad is a sensible choice.
Is Asad a Sauvage Elixir dupe?
Not in the strict sense. They share a warm, spicy base, but Asad has tobacco and coffee, while Sauvage Elixir has lavender and liquorice. The first impression is similar; the development isn't.
Do you carry Sauvage Elixir?
No. From our range, the closest on the warm-spicy side is Layton, and on the Arabian side it's Asad itself.
At this price, is Asad any good?
At €10 for 5 ml the value for money is hard to beat. The materials are simpler and the development shorter, but the basic idea works.
When should I wear it?
In winter and in the evening. Amber, oud and leather become heavy in the heat.
What should I take if I want something better in the same direction?
Penhaligon's Halfeti for a more serious leather with oud, or Parfums de Marly Layton for a more polished warm, spicy direction. Both are pricier, but more dynamic.
